Social Media Master — Network Specialists

Learning to navigate the social medias? When the boom started on the Internet, more than eighteen years ago, having a website meant you were cool. Then along came blogging, it required some input from you on a regular basis, but most everyone who was really cool did that too.

Now Twitter and Facebook, at the very least, are required to be a cool presenter online.

When my kids started talking about facebook, I didn’t hop right on. But I did stay tuned in to what they were saying about it. When they started complaining because adults were intruding on their territory, I checked in too. Yup, adults were definitely intruders at that point. Kids had been using the site primarily to connect with school chums. I realized I could connect with school chums too. I infiltrated the site as well.

Now, I have more contacts than my kids have on facebook, and many of them are marketing/business related. I have several basis for contact, writers, business associates, probable clients, and friends/buddies and old class mates (some of them look a lot older than others). The best part is, when I send out a message, everyone gets it. I become a real person, with a real identity and my customers appreciate that.

Friends and family have some basic concept of what I do, and I get referrals there too.

Learning to tweet 140 characters and bring in a phone call from a new client makes the world a happy place, I can’t think of a better way to promote yourself.
